ITINERARY M/V MARE AUSTRALIS:
SEPTEMBER 2005 APRIL 2006
PUNTA ARENAS - USHUAIA (5 days / 4 nights)
SATURDAY:
Punta Arenas
Check in between 13:00-17:00 at Magallanes 990, Punta Arenas
18:00-19:00 hours, embark on the Expedition Cruise ship Mare Australis. The crew headed by the Captain will give a welcoming cocktail onboard.
Immediately after, the ship will set sail with the destination to the end of the world. Through the mythical Strait of Magellan, we will travel through the Patagonia and Tierra de Fuego. It is the beginning of a Great Adventure.
SUNDAY:
Ainsworth Bay – Brookes Glacier
With the first lights of dawn, the navigation will continue through the Almirantazgo Inlet, until arriving close to the Marinelli Glacier in the Ainsworth Bay, where we will undertake a walk to discover beaver dam and the marvelous Magellan forest that surrounds it. In the beach also we will see a colony of Elephant Seals
Continuing the navigation we will arrive to the bay of the Brookes Glacier where we will see ourselves surrounded by various glaciers that deliver an amazing landscape. Here we will carry out a nearby walk to the glacier.
MONDAY:
Pia Glacier – Glacier Avenue
We will navigate the main part of the Beagle Channel to enter the Pia Bay and disembark near the glacier of the same name. We will initiate an excursion toward an observation point that offers excellent conditions to view the mountain range where the glacier originates and all its displacements that fall to the sea. After this unforgettable experience, we will sail again by the northwest arm of the Beagle Channel, to appreciate the majestic "Glacier Avenue": Spain, Romanche, Germany, Italy, France and Holland.
TUESDAY:
Cape Horn and Puerto Williams
Navigate through the Beagle and Murray Channels to disembark in the Cape Horn National Park. The Cape Horn almost entirely vertical of 425 meters high, where the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean merge was discovered in 1616 by the Dutch commercial expedition organized by Isaac Le Maire. The Cape owes its name to the Port of Hoorn, where the expedition had set sail.
In the afternoon we will disembark in Port Williams, the southern most town in the world, where you will be able to enjoy optional excursions that are offered in the town, such as the Museum Martin Gusinde or to participate in an over flight of Cape Horn.
WEDNESDAY:
Ushuaia
Arrive to Ushuaia, the most important Argentinean city in Tierra de Fuego and the southernmost city in the world as well. This day, disembark at 8:00 where you will be able to visit the city and national parks and continue the trip through the Patagonia.

Continuing the navigation we will visit the Tucker Islet where we will see from the Zodiac boats, colonies of Magellan Penguins and Cormorans.
FRIDAY:
Garibaldi Glacier - Pia Glacier- Glacier Avenue
We will disembark at the bay of the Garibaldi Glacier to start off an adventurous excursion through the Magellan forest. Later, we will navigate the main part of the Beagle Channel to enter the Pia Bay and disembark near the glacier of the same name. We will initiate an excursion toward an observation point that offers excellent conditions to view the mountain range where the glacier originates and all its displacements that fall to the sea.
